The Cumbria Way begins at Ulverston and heads north for 73 miles (123 km) across the Lake District, over High Pike to the border city of Carlisle. This third edition of the rainproof guidebook contains detailed directions updated in 2025, practical information on transport and accommodation, and has 85 colour photos with mapping at 1:55,000.

Paddy Dillon is one of Britain’s most prolific outdoor writers and photographers. He has travelled extensively, writing and illustrating thousands of magazine articles, contributing to several outdoor titles over the years. He has written and illustrated almost 100 guidebooks, covering walking areas and long-distance trails, with contributions to 40 more publications. He is President of the Backpackers Club.
